A new season wipes the board. Season 9 of Marvel Rivals, The Mystery of Thebes, went live on July 10, and about four weeks in the community data has settled enough to show who actually rose to the top of the reset. This is the first read, not the final one. Placements below the leaders are still shuffling, and the deeper the sample gets, the more the back half will move.
Everything here is shrunk win rate from Season 9 community data through roughly the first four weeks of the season, Standard mode, all ranks, all game types, aggregated across maps. The shrink pulls thin samples toward the middle so a hero with a few hundred games cannot fluke onto the list, which matters most this early. Win rate is not the same as strength in a coordinated game, but four weeks in it is the cleanest signal we have.
Vanguard
- Peni Parker, 56.97% over ~45,300 matches
- The Thing, 52.92% over ~53,800 matches
- Thor, 52.08% over ~42,900 matches
- Bruce Banner, 51.90% over ~33,000 matches
- Venom, 51.71% over ~59,200 matches
Peni Parker is the clear leader on the frontline. Nearly 57% with a sample in the tens of thousands is a big gap over the rest of the role, and no other Vanguard clears 53. The Thing and Thor hold the tier just under her, both comfortable without being oppressive. Magneto, one of the most played tanks in the game, sits mid pack around 51%, a reminder that popularity and win rate are different questions.
Duelist
- Storm, 55.67% over ~19,500 matches
- Magik, 55.28% over ~34,100 matches
- Blade, 53.49% over ~26,800 matches
- Black Panther, 53.23% over ~28,700 matches
- Hela, 53.10% over ~46,400 matches
Storm and Magik are basically tied at the top, and the gap back to third is real. Storm carries the smaller sample of the two, so watch whether she holds 55% as the games pile up. Blade and Black Panther round out an aggressive, dive heavy top of the role, with Hela the one hitscan anchor keeping pace on a much larger sample. The rest of the role is a tight cluster in the low 50s and high 40s, so a nudge from a balance patch could reorder ranks 6 through 12 overnight.
Strategist
- Mantis, 57.23% over ~43,100 matches
- Rocket Raccoon, 54.92% over ~70,600 matches
- Ultron, 54.63% over ~26,100 matches
- Jubilee, 50.80% over ~144,300 matches
- White Fox, 49.98% over ~93,900 matches
Support is the most top heavy role right now. Mantis leads the entire game at over 57%, with Rocket Raccoon and Ultron a clear second tier and then a steep drop. Jubilee, the Strategist who launched with the season, has by far the most games logged of anyone here at roughly 144,000, and she has settled almost exactly at 50%. That fits a busy, high skill hero that a lot of people are still learning. White Fox rounds out the five just under even, while popular comfort picks like Luna Snow and Cloak and Dagger are sitting below 50% four weeks in.
What moves from here
Read this as a first month photo, not a verdict. The leaders at each role have enough games behind them to trust, but the sample is still building, lower placements will move, and one balance pass can flip a hero a full tier. Against how Season 8 wound down, the reset has already reshuffled who sits on top, and it will keep shifting as players settle in. We keep the full tier list current as the games come in, so if you want the live version by role, division, and map, it is on the Counterwatch Marvel Rivals tier list.
