Shrinkage blends each hero's raw win rate with the role average, weighted by sample size. A hero with 5 matches at 100% gets pulled most of the way back to the role baseline. A hero with 10,000 matches barely moves. It means a one-game fluke never floats to the top, so the tier list stays honest even when some heroes are rarely picked.

What do the S through F tiers mean on the Marvel Rivals tier list?

S-tier means a hero is beating the role baseline by a wide margin, with enough sample to trust it. F-tier is the opposite: enough matches to be confident the hero is underperforming. Most of the roster sits in the middle tiers, where your individual mastery matters more than the ranking.
